How the media is contributing to your opinion of Nella Rose.
It’s been on most peoples lips all week. The internet personality’s entrance to ITV’s new season of ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ has been nothing but controversial, lets dive in.

The Youtube star has found herself in controversy ever since she joined ITV’s new season of I’m a Celeb…people are torn about who’s right and who’s wrong, looking deeper into the issue here, it may seem that this villain edit Nella has received may be purposeful and fully intentional, receiving a load of of com complaints each episode, and being slammed online, lets ask the question of, is this all warranted by Nella’s behaviour?
For some, the answer is yes, and for some it’s no. Those who know Nella externally and from her Youtube era have this image of her that is bubbly, outgoing and funny, furthermore hearing reports about her on the new season of IM a Celeb had her fans ecstatic and happy for her first breakthrough on British television.
What changed?

Once episode three aired, viewers were confused and in shock at the exchange in conversation that Nella and First dates host. They had clashed due to a comment that Sirieix had made the night before about being Nella’s dad. Fred who is 52 had claimed that he is of an old age now, but Nella disagreed saying he is still youthful, Fred’s next comment is where it had all went wrong.
“You know I could be your dad” was repeated a couple times by Fred, and caused Nella to avoid him the following morning and also said comments such as, “I accept your apology but let’s not be friends, how about that?” and “Don’t bring up my dead parents, are you stupid?” But what was so wrong about his comment? was the question on everybody’s minds at the time.

The Youtuber had lost her father just four years after the death of her mother, Eseho Omolongo, who had died in Nella’s arms back in 2016. Nella had told her followers on TikTok that she still remains resilient despite her loss.
However, viewers are conflicted as due to Fred’s language barrier, he allegedly meant that he was “old enough to be her father” however it was said as “I could be your dad”.

Since then, Nella has been in the headlines countless times for her other conversations with Nigel Farage on immigration in the UK, Sam Thompson in the bushtucker trial and her “having it easy” in the challenge, whether she was right of wrong in her rows, and so on.
So do you think the media is portraying her fairly?

Each time an episode airs, Nella is in headlines for things she comments on, and viewers don’t hold her back when it comes to holding her accountable.

From the very start of the season, viewers and even some celebrities are in rows with others on whether Nella is right or wrong, whether she is a celebrity, whether she should be on the show, however the amount of online hate that this ordeal has sparked, some would argue has gone overboard.
What would you make of the media’s portrayal of her? Ask the question of, if the amount of online hate she’s receiving is deserved, if you was Nella what would you do differently? Do you think Nigel/Fred are wrong in this situation?
Where else have we seen examples of this?

In 2020, shortly after the passing of George Floyd in the USA, which had a massive influence on the Black Lives Matter movement, Britains Got Talent star, and Diversity dance leader, Ashley Banjo, had done a performance on the show, to show where he stands on racism.

It hadn’t gone as well as planned, because while they did receive a lot of support for this performance it also created outrage among BGT viewers, raking up a massive 24,000+ complaints to Ofcom.
Reports by Ofcom claim that some viewers thought it was racist to white people, unsuitable for TV, and inappropriate for children to watch.

TV star and comedian, London Hughes also expressed her opinion about how black people are portrayed in the media, as this continues to become an ongoing topic people are conflicted about.
